Privacy Policy
Torq has no account, so most of what a privacy policy usually covers does not exist here. What is left is worth reading precisely: what is recorded on the phone, what stays there, and the five services the app talks to.
1. Who this is
Torq is an iPhone application published by Eversight Studio LLC of Cheyenne, Wyoming, United States. This policy covers the app and this website. Questions go to hello@eversight.io.
2. There is no Torq account
There is no sign-up, no email collected at install, no password and no profile stored on our servers. We do not operate a user table. There is nothing for us to look up about you by name, and no account for us to hand to anyone else.
3. What Torq records, and where it lives
While a drive is recording, Torq collects location data (coordinates, speed, course, altitude, timestamps and the reported accuracy of each fix) and motion data (acceleration, rotation and barometric pressure). From these it computes the route, the speed and elevation series, the corners, the G-force figures, the comfort and road-quality grades and the driving score.
All of that is stored in a database on your iPhone and in raw sensor files on your iPhone. It is analyzed on the phone. It is not uploaded to us. It leaves the phone only when you export or share a trip, and you choose the destination each time. Deleting a trip in the app deletes it; deleting the app deletes everything.
4. The speed-limit lookup
When the speed-limit alert is on, Torq sends your current coordinates to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API, at most once every 30 seconds or 500 meters, to find the posted limit of the nearest road. The request carries coordinates and nothing else: no identifier, no history. OpenStreetMap's servers see the request under their own terms. Turn the alert off and no request is made.
5. Services that receive device and usage data
The app uses four service providers to operate purchases, measure usage and report crashes. Each receives device and event data under its own policy. None receives your trips.
- Apple App Store and StoreKit, for purchases, subscription billing, refunds and restores.
- RevenueCat, which verifies subscription entitlement status and restores purchases. It receives an app-generated identifier and App Store transaction metadata.
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, for usage events (which screens are opened, which features are used) and crash reports (device model, iOS version, stack traces). Events carry a device identifier generated by the app and stored in the Keychain.
- Meta SDK, for install attribution and app events, including the advertising identifier when your device settings and consent choices permit it.
To delete the analytics and crash records associated with your device identifier, email us; the app can show you the identifier in the Mod tab.
6. Support messages
If you email us, we keep the message and your address for as long as it takes to resolve the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can recognize a follow-up.
7. This website
torqgps.com is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics script and loads nothing from third-party domains. Cloudflare records standard server logs for security under its own policy. Links to the App Store carry a campaign tag so Apple can tell us which page the install came from; Apple governs that data.
8. Sharing
We share information with the service providers above so they can perform their function; when you choose to export or share a trip or send us a message; to comply with law or an enforceable request; to protect the rights, safety and security of users, the studio or others; and as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We do not sell your recorded trips.
9. Retention and your controls
Trip data stays on your device until you delete it. Subscription, analytics, support and legal records may be retained by us or our providers as needed to operate the app, comply with law, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. You can change the location, motion and notification permissions in iOS Settings at any time; removing location permission stops recording.
10. Children
Torq is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will act on it.
11. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information; no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. The service providers above may process data in the United States and other countries whose privacy laws differ from yours.
12. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and give notice as the law requires. The policy the app links to at eversight.io says the same as this page; if the two ever differ, the later date governs.
